ICQ Status is a simple program designed to verify the status of a UIN in ICQ.

UIN (Unique Identification Number) is the term used to design the number that uniquely identifies each user on a network (in this case it's ICQ), which is assigned when you register as a user. So, the UIN is the only data that's permanent in the user's account, as the nick and other data can be changed at any time without having to re-register (it's something like the identity document for ICQ users).

Thus, with ICQ Status you have the chance to know in which state a user is at any moment (available, busy, disconnected, etc) even if they've changed their username or other data, and without needing to have ICQ available in your PC at that time.
